Overview
RangeLeagues ("we", "our", or "us") operates the RangeLeagues platform at rangeleagues.com, including the free Ballistic Zero Target Generator and Shot Group Analyzer, and the Leagues competitive shooting platform (private and community leagues, events, submissions, and leaderboards). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our service.
Data Collection Practices
At RangeLeagues, we believe in transparency and user control over data. We categorize our data collection into two types:
Required Data (Normal App Usage)
The following data is collected automatically to provide core functionality. This data is essential for the app to work properly:
- Usage Analytics: Usage data (page views, feature usage, interaction patterns) via Firebase Analytics — set only with your consent where consent is required (EEA/UK)
- Local Storage: Preferences and settings stored locally in your browser (never transmitted to our servers)
- Authentication Data: Email address and user ID if you create an account, either directly or via "Sign in with Google" (required for profile saving and league access)
- User Profiles: Ballistic configurations you save to your account (stored in Firebase, accessible only to you)
- League Profile Data: If you join Leagues, your display username, skill level, chosen disciplines, and avatar image — visible to other members of leagues you join
- Payment Data: If you purchase Pro or Tools Unlock, your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and payment status (we never receive or store your full card number — see Third-Party Services)
- Referral Data: If you use or generate a referral link, we record the referral code and which account referred you, to attribute rewards
Optional Data (Explicit Opt-In Only)
The following data is only collected if you explicitly consent by checking a consent box or enabling a feature:
- Feedback Submissions: Voluntary feedback on features (via feedback buttons)
- Sponsorship Inquiries: Name, email, and message when you submit the sponsorship form
check_circle You must actively opt-in for any of this data to be collected. The app functions fully without providing any optional data.
League & Competition Data
Joining a League and submitting to an event involves data collection distinct from the free tools above, since scoring and fair competition require it:
- Event Submissions: The target photo you submit, your marked shot coordinates, calibration data, and computed score are stored and become part of that event's results and your league's leaderboard.
- Anti-Cheat Camera Metadata: Submission photos retain limited EXIF data (camera make/model, ISO, exposure settings, capture time) as part of the fair-play review process. This does not include GPS or location data — we don't collect where a photo was taken.
- Peer Review Visibility: Depending on the event's verification tier, other league members or moderators may review your submitted photo and marked shots to verify scoring — this is core to how certification works, not an optional data share.
- Skill Ratings & Moderation Stats: Your Normalized Capability Rating (NCR), skill classification, and — if you participate in peer review — your review accuracy are tracked to support fair matchmaking and platform integrity.
- Safety Waivers: When you join a league, we record your acknowledgment of that league's safety rules and liability waiver, including a timestamp and the waiver version.
Submission and leaderboard data is inherently shared with other participants in the same league or event — it can't be made private after submission the way an account-only profile can, since it's the basis of the competition itself.
How We Use Information
We use collected information for the following purposes:
- Service Provision: To provide and maintain core functionality (ballistic calculations, target generation, shot analysis)
- User Accounts: To authenticate users and store/retrieve their saved ballistic profiles
- League Operation: To run leagues and events — scoring submissions, maintaining leaderboards, verifying safety waivers, and crediting referrals
- Payment Processing: To process Pro and Tools Unlock purchases and manage your subscription status via Stripe
- Analytics: To understand how users interact with our tool so we can improve it. Analytics cookies are set only with your consent where consent is required (EEA/UK).
- Communication: To respond to sponsorship inquiries and user feedback
- Statistics: To display aggregate, anonymous statistics (e.g., total targets printed, app usage metrics)
Legal Basis (GDPR): We process the data necessary to provide the service you requested on the basis of contract and our legitimate interest in operating and improving it. Analytics cookies and any other non-essential tracking are processed only with your explicit consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and the ePrivacy Directive) — you can accept, reject, or change this at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): For authentication (including "Sign in with Google"), user/league/event data storage (Firestore), and analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Stripe: For processing Pro subscription and Tools Unlock payments. Stripe handles your payment details directly — we never receive or store your full card number. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare R2: For storing uploaded images — avatars and league/event submission photos. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Amazon SES (AWS): For sending transactional and account emails (e.g. password resets). AWS Privacy Notice
- Formspree: For processing sponsorship inquiry forms. Formspree Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare: For hosting and content delivery. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies through Firebase Analytics to track activity on our service. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some features of the service may not function properly without cookies.
Data Retention
Different types of data are retained for different periods:
- User Profiles: Retained as long as your account is active. Contact us to request deletion of your account and associated data.
- League & Event Data: Submission photos, scores, and leaderboard entries are retained as part of the league/event's historical record, since removing them would corrupt other members' results.
- Payment Data: Subscription and transaction records are retained per our payment processor's (Stripe) standard retention and applicable financial recordkeeping requirements.
- Analytics Data: Retained according to Firebase's default retention policies (typically 14 months)
- Form Submissions: Retained only as long as necessary to respond to inquiries, then deleted
- Local Storage: Remains on your device until you clear your browser data
Your Rights
Under GDPR and similar privacy regulations, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to Rectification: Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your account and associated profiles
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Opt-out of optional data collection at any time
- Right to Data Portability: Request your saved profiles in a machine-readable format
- Right to Object: Object to processing of your data for specific purposes
Note: League submission photos and scores become part of that league/event's shared results once submitted (see League & Competition Data above) — we can remove your account's ability to be identified going forward, but historical leaderboard/standings entries generally can't be retroactively erased without corrupting other members' results.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the sponsorship inquiry form on our main page.
